1. For UK Visa is it necessary to go personally for Visa submission OR can any agent or representative can submit on my behalf?

For UK VISA, Personal Visit to VFS Center is mandatory. Personal Biometrics has been made compulsory for each applicant, each applicant has to appear in person at VFS Center for Biometrics i.e. to capture his/her Finger prints & Photo with prior appointments & hence Passenger has to appear in person.

2. If I had been issued UK Visa earlier still, is it necessary to go for Biometrics again this time as well?

For UK visa every time you do a fresh application (Apply for a Visa), it is necessary for applicant to do a Biometrics every time (Simply because you have done Biometrics prior, that does not give you a relief for Biometrics for your current application)

3. What is the processing time for UK Visa?

Standard processing time for UK visa is 15 Working days excluding Saturday and Sundays & day of Biometrics.

4. Is there any option to process UK visa on Urgent basis?

Yes in UK visa, UK VFS Offers 2 options for processing Visa on Urgent basis

• Priority Visa - Under this facility, Visa can be processed between 5 Working Days instead of 15 working days at an additional cost (Please contact our Expert chillontrip Team for this)
• Super Priority Visa - Under this facility, Visa can be processed either on same day OR within 2 Working days at an additional cost (Please contact our Expert chillontrip Team for this)

5. If I need to apply for any other Visa simultaneously along with UK Visa, is it possible?

VFS has named this facility as “KEEP MY PASSPORT WHEN APPLYING” where at the time of submission, applicant can retain his passport with him & can apply for another visa but needs to submit his passport again within 10 days (from UK Biometrics date) to UK VFS Center where originally he had submitted his application at an additional cost (Please contact our Expert chillontrip Team for this)

6. Where British High Commission is located? or Where I need to go for Biometrics?

There is only one British High Commission, which is located in New Delhi which issues visas for all PAN India applicants, but VFS Centers are located in many states across the country, you can visit to any nearby VFS Center from your residence/Office.

7. Is it necessary to pre Book appointment OR can I go as walk in?

It is necessary to book Pre Appointment before going for Biometrics, but in case there is no time to Book appointment, applicant can go as Walk in as well without taking appointment at an additional cost which is to be paid to VFS UK center. (Please contact our Expert chillontripTeam for this)

8. What is the process for collecting passports after the decision has been taken on application?

Here the Applicant has 2 options for collection of passport as below

• Counter Collection – Applicant can collect the passport by visiting personally to VFS Center where he has submitted his application
• Courier Collection – Applicant can opt for Courier facility for delivering his passport at his desired address i.e. either Residence or Office

9. What is UK Transit Visa?

When Indian Nationals transit through an airport in UK to their Final country of destination, they require to take UK Transit visa, there are 2 types of UK Transit visas as below

• Direct Airside Transit Visa – If passenger does not require to clear immigration (Need not pass through UK Border Control) then he can opt for Direct Airside Transit Visa.
• Visitor in Transit Visa – If passenger requires to clear immigration (Need to pass through UK Border Control) & leaving UK within 48 hours from the arrival, then he can opt for Visitor in Transit visa.
• Visitor Visa – If passenger needs to clear immigration but intends to stay for more than 48 hours, then he has to opt for Visitor visa


• There are exceptions to this and in certain conditions, Passengers can transit without visa as well (We suggest that you should check with our chillontrip Expert team on this before your travel)

10. UK Visa is issued generally for what validity?

UK Visa will be issued for different validity as below, depending upon applicant’s choice & charges will vary accordingly.

11. What is On Demand Mobile Visa services facility?

On Demand Mobile Visa service facility has been introduced by VFS for convenience of passengers, here if Applicant does not want to visit to VFS Center, then he can opt for this facility where he can give his Biometrics at his own residence or office at convenient date & time, where he needs to make prior booking by sending mail to VFS & payment of additional charges & then VFS team will come to his place & complete Biometrics process.
This facility is chargeable.
